BlackBerry Messenger

As we reported a few days ago, BBM (or Blackberry Messenger) is confirmed for Android and it’s coming soon, but further information in the form of a leaked advert from Samsung has shown that the messaging platform is likely to land on the Samsung Galaxy range of devices before anything else.

While it’s smart to hit the Galaxy range of devices first, given their ever increasing sales figures, surely given how long it’s taken already another month isn’t going to hurt any uptake of the messaging platform. One wonders whether allowing other platforms access to BBM is going to make any difference to Blackberry fading slowly out.

Is it too little too late from Blackbery getting BBM on Android phones, particularly with the uptake of Hangouts? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Surely Samsung could develop some cross-platform messaging app? Why not do that and promote it? Why promote another companies app? Also, why give Hangouts the cold shoulder, as if they don’t acknowledge that Google already have a cross-platform app.

    Sounds very strange to me.

    They have, It’s called ChatOn.
If I had to guess it was to entice current BB owners to make the switch to a Galaxy phone so they aren’t out of the loop with current BB owning friends.
