Gmail 4.7.2
The image above with the ‘Show Pictures’ tag is about to disappear, with Google beginning the rollout of their Gmail for Android App which will automatically host the pictures in emails on their own servers to remove the possibility of people compromising the security of devices.

The update to the desktop version of GMail rolled out last month, but at the same time, Google promised that the Android app would be updated with the same functionality and it’s now rolling out with version 4.7.2 arriving on devices. The option to automatically show images in the App can be toggled or or off by going to Settings > Your Gmail or GApps account > ‘Images Always Show’ where you can select to go back to ‘Ask before showing’.

Android Police are currently hosting the APK file for those who don’t want to wait for the staggered rollout.

Well how about the option “only show images on wifi, otherwise ask” – since I’d suggest that’s what most people will need.
