Instagram has been conistently updating their app with more features, like video and direct messaging for a while, but has today released an update which focuses on the heart of what makes Instagram a popular platform – photos. Specifically, they’ve added editing tools to allow you to touch up those photos before posting.
The update, which brings Instagram up to version 6.0, adds some improvements to existing tools – Straighten, Border, Blur/Tilt Shift, Crop, Lux and Rotate and adds a host of new tools :
- Filter strength
- Adjust
- Brightness
- Contrast
- Warmth
- Saturation
- Highlights
- Shadows
- Vignette
- Sharpen
Instagram has updated their help page, with tips on how to use the new editing features, but it’s not terribly difficult, with Instagram nailing a very intuitive interface with the update – it’s as easy as hitting the spanner icon as soon as you’ve taken a photo and you’re then presented with a number of options.
The update is available in Google Play now, so check those update queues to see if you’ve been prompted for it yet.
