Google launched the TV component of Google Play Movies and TV in Australia back in March, and the selection of content was fairly extensive, offering both Australian and US content, but if you were missing shows from the BBC, you can now check out shows from the UK on Google Play.
Announced on Google+ yesterday, Google Play now has a launch offer, with a range of shows from the BBC, including Dr Who, Orphan Black, Sherlock, a range of documentaries and more, including new show The Musketeers. Pricing is on average around $2.99 per episode, with full seasons available as well.
While new shows like The Musketeers has a full season, older shows like Top Gear and Dr Who have gaps, with only seasons 6-21 of Top Gear available, and only a ‘Special Collection’ of Dr Who episodes available as opposed to full seasons. Still, it’s a start. Head on over to Google Play to check out what’s on offer from the BBC
Google is slowly, slowly catching up. It’s good that Dr Who is there. They’re still missing shows that I’ve been randomly interested in lately like Firefly, Stargate SG1 and Star Trek.
Annoyingly incomplete.
If they ever fix that shortcoming, then it might be worth considering buying some their offered BBC stuff.
