Flappy Bird is undoubtedly one of the biggest viral game successes this year, it was a little too successful for creator Dong Nguyen who removed it from Google Play and the App Store. But Dong has brought it back in the form of a slightly upgraded game: Flappy Birds ‘Family’ — albeit as an Amazon App Store exclusive — but it’s not the only thing Dong has been working on, with the developer showing off his new game Swing Copters to gaming site Touch Arcade.
The game is essentially Flappy Bird gone vertical, with the addition of swinging pendulums. The character in the game has a propeller on his head which propels him ever upwards. Controls are again simple, tap to start and the main character starts flying upwards, while veering off in one direction, tap the screen to change direction, avoiding the pendulums and platforms in your way. Simple.
You can check out the video below to see what you think.
The game will again be ad-supported, though with a $0.99 In-App Purchase available to disable ads. The game should hit online app stores this week on the 21st, or more likely the early hours of the 22nd here in Australia, so keep your eyes peeled.
insanely frustrating..
Completely simple concept, but man it looks like a pain to play.
This developer is pure evil.
