We’re going to see a lot more of this over the coming weeks, as we run up to the official release of the newly announced Android Lollipop, which is really the first instance of Material Design. Swiftykey has overnight added their take on Material Design, by releasing two new themes to their store offering a Material Dark and Material Light.
Both of the themes are available to purchase through In-App Purchase (IAP) from within the Swiftkey app. The themes aren’t terribly expensive and will set you back $0.99 each. Though they look like the stock Google keyboard with Material Light or Material Dark, there’s some subtle differences, in that the Swiftkey Keyboard offers “@#&*” symbols on the ASDF keys, accessible through long-press on the keys.
The new themes are similar, though different to the ‘Minimal’ Swiftkey keyboard theme, Swiftkey says :
This theme family is distinctly different from Minimal, which is very popular with SwiftKey users. We wanted to appeal to Minimal users who like simplicity, but also to add in the handy secondary characters and contrasting number pad, as well as surprising touches of bold color.
If you’re interested in trying out Swiftkey, remember it’s now free to use, so head on over to Google Play and download it.
Damn, I’d just bought Minimal Light Gray theme!
