You’ve been able to pre-order books, music and movies for some time now, but Google has kicked off app and game pre-orders in Google Play now, starting with a new title from Glu which will most likely co-incide with the movie launch for Terminator Genisys.
The title called Terminator Genisys: Revolution, as you can see is only available to ‘Pre-register’, which means you won’t actually be charged for the title when you click the button, though Glu Mobile as ‘The Leader in 3D Freemium Mobile Gaming’ has noted in the game description:
Terminator Genisys: Revolution is free to play, but you can choose to pay real money for some extra items.
At this pre-register stage the In-App Purchase (IAP) amounts haven’t been defined in the descripton, though this most likely will be once the game is released – as per the Google Play developer guidelines.
Games that will be paid, will come. How it works for pre-registered games is that you won’t actually be charged once it’s released – only once you install it. According to Google Play Support:
Terminator Genisys: Revolution should be released in time for the movie release but whether Glu will time the global release cycle of the game to coincide with movie launches around the globe isn’t clear. Terminator Genisys will actually launch here in Australia on the 1st of July – the same day as the US, so look for a notification then if you pre-register.
Was worried for a second, but if it’s just a “notify me when it’s released” system then that’s fine.
What I would like is for notifications when a game on my wishlist has a price reduction or is on sale, the way Steam does.

That would certainly be handy – but for all items on your wishlist. Also when a sequel is released for a game/book/movie that you have already bought.
