The Google Street View app, which normally operates inside of Google Maps has seen a big update for their V2.0 release, with the app launching as a standalone app in Google Play.
The update is rolling out slowly, but once you get the full version there’s a few new features you can do with the Street View app. For a start you’ll notice a Floating Action Button in the bottom left, which is to encourage you to take your own Street View images and upload them, effectively crowd sourcing the latest updates for Street View. While you can do a Street View with your standard phone, Google has also linked to a quick listing of Spherical Cameras which make the job a lot easier.
The full description of the new app reads as:
With Google Maps Street View, you can explore the world at street level. See popular landmarks, check out places you want to visit in your hometown or far away, and take a virtual trip around the world.
To use Street View, open Google Maps, search for a place or long-press the map, and tap the Street View option.
To learn more about Street View and see where it’s available, visit maps.google.com/streetview.
If you want the new update, you can of course grab it early, or just wait and the update will come through shortly.
It’s a standalone app long time ago.

This is still going to be integrated into the Google maps app right? Last thing I want to do is look for a place on Maps then have to go out and look up the street view on another app.
