Google recently updated their seemingly long neglected Fitness offering Google Fit with a new Android Wear app allowing Challenge’s, but it seems that’s not all that was in the update, with Google also adding nutritional data and real-time stats for your walks, runs and rides.

The Nutritional Data integration will be rolling out over the next few days according to the Official Android Blog, but will include ways to track your nutrition and sleep data from more apps and devices. Nutrition partners include popular names such as MyFitnessPal, Fatsecret, Lifesum, or LoseIt, while sleep trackers include hardware and software with Sleep as Android, Xiaomi Mi Band and Mi Band 1S, Sony Smartband 2, or the Basis Peak all on board.

As a MyFitnessPal user, the integration isn’t there as yet, but I`m hoping the update won’t be too far away.

The Real-time stats for your exercise will now show up as you’re doing your exercise, with ‘Instant insights’ offered while you’re running, walking or riding with data displayed on your phone. Google Fit will now record and display data such as ‘your speed, pace, route, elevation, and more so you can stay motivated and on track’.

The updates to Google Fit are available now, but integration with third party apps may take a little while to come through. We’ll be keeping an eye out for those updates as they start.
