Google Play has again updated their App and Game Deal of the week for another week, as we’ve seen for most weeks there’s a well known title mixed with a lesser known title. This week, the suspenseful smash hit game The Room 2 is up for grabs for the low, low price of 20c and joining it is the lesser known OsmAnd+ Maps & Navigation.
App Deal of the Week
OsmAnd+ Maps & Navigation
Google Maps isn’t for everyone, with some people concerned about using Google’s mapping data, so a competing, open standard using OpenStreetMap (OSM) has grown up. According to their site ‘OpenStreetMap is built by a community of mappers that contribute and maintain data about roads, trails, cafés, railway stations, and much more, all over the world’. OsmAnd+ Maps & Navigation uses OpenStreetMap data to provide their mapping information.
The app provides all the functions you can expect from a mapping and navigation app – offline mode, turn-by-turn voice navigation with lane guidance, Points of Interest and the ability to search by address, POI or geographical coordinates. OsmAnd+ also supports intermediate waypoints on your trip which Google has only just introduced.
The list of features is pretty complete so if you’re after a good mapping system, with the added bonus of not using Google or HERE mapping data, then this is a good option and at 20c with no In-App Purchases it’s a good deal in anyones language.
Game Deal of the Week
The Room 2
If you haven’t played The Room, or its sequel The Room 2 then you’re in for a treat. The Room was a BAFTA award winning title, and the Room 2 is a similar title described in the blurb as ‘a physical puzzler, wrapped in a mystery game, inside a beautifully tactile 3D world’.
The game is tactile so you’ll spend time working out puzzles by moving things around on-screen, as well as using your brain to really puzzle out details as they’re presented. The game has a stunning soundtrack that’s tuned to what’s happening in the game environment and adds to the suspense or the excitement as you play.
The Room 2 is definitely worth your hard earned dollars at full price, but at 20c it’s a steal and for that price, you should go back and check out the original game which is still only a miniscule $1.49 for hours of gameplay.
At 20c each, they’re great deals to have in your library so go get them now and we’ll see you next week.
