Google Docs editing is getting a little futuristic as of today, with Google today announcing a new feature that lets you type, edit and format documents with your voice.
The feature lets you speak naturally, using formatting commands as you speak — Chapter 1 > Apply Heading 1 — and Google Docs will automatically add the formatting to what you’ve just typed. It seems there’s some of their contextual language voodoo behind the update, as the application of formatting seems to work seemlessly in the video they’ve released showing the feature:
To get help using the feature you can just say ‘voice commands help’ while you’re typing – or be really boring and just hit the Google Support doc.
The update is of course hitting the web first, with no mention of Android at this stage, but you know with a feature like this it’s going to be killer on mobile when/if it does hit.
