LG has added a new and interesting piece of functionality to their software arsenal, setting up a channel on online automation tool IFTTT.
IFTTT, which is literally, If This Then That, a basic programming concept, allows users to easily setup recipes which can trigger events based on other events.
LG has setup several IFTTT channels, one under LG Electronics for controlling actions based on your LG Washer and Dryer, and the other for LG Smartphones focused on tracking health, uploading photos or actions based on location or plugging in peripherals.
The Washer/Dryer recipes allow you to log your activity in Drive, play music on your Android phone or Tweet a DM or update your Facebook status when a cycle is complete – expect to be unfriended if you try that one as a public post.
The more interesting side of the new IFTTT channel, at least for us with the LG G5 about to launch is their smartphone integration. The recipes currently in place can do a variety of interesting things involving your health tracking, and even a location based trigger for turning on NFC.
To try out the recipes, you can login to your IFTTT account, install the IFTTT app on your phone and get started.
