If you’re older, you’ll remember Text based gaming franchises like Zork which though visually unappealing had all the great elements of an engaging game. Lifeline is just this, it’s a text based series of games with an added twist in that it plays out in real time.

The series consists of three titles – Lifeline, Lifeline 2 and Lifeline: Silent Night, which are written by acclaimed author Dave Justus, the writer behind titles like The Wolf Among Us. The stories are engaging, immersive and fantastic, playing out the way it does will have you reaching for your phone multiple times a day just to find out what’s happening.

Lifeline is a game of survival, with you communicating with a character called Taylor, who along with his crew have crash landed on an alien moon. You can only speak with Taylor via his communicator via text, with new messages coming in throughout your day, asking you to make life or death decisions to help save Taylor and his crew, some of whom are missing.

Lifeline 2 is the story of Arika, ‘a young woman on a deadly quest to avenge her parents and rescue her long-lost brother’.
