If you’ve been jealously watching your iOS using friends happily playing with the first Mario game officially on mobile, then good news with Nintendo announcing you can now pre-register for the game on Google Play.
Super Mario Run was announced by Nintendo super developer Miyamoto back at the iPhone 7 launch back in September as an iOS exclusive – an exclusive that was soon found to be temporary with Nintendo advising it would be launching on Android as well. Super Mario Run hit the iOS App store earlier this month where it currently has a 2.5 star (out of 5) rating.
Super Mario Run is an ‘Automatic Runner’ which basically means Mario will keep on going and all you do is control the direction and jumping. The aim is to collect coins and complete the level. There’s also a head-to-head mode called Toad Rally and a Kingdom Builder which lets you create your own world spending the coins you collect and using the toads you accrue in Toad Rally.
There’s various in-app purchases to unlock worlds and an internet connection is apparently needed to play. Despite this, the game does however look pretty:
If you’re interested in Super Mario Run then you can now pre-register which means you’ll get a notification on your device when the app is available to download.
I thought there was only one purchase which was to actually buy it after trying it out for free. It does avoid the family library that way though 🙁
I won’t be getting it. Treating us as second class citizens because we are on Android, I hope it flops on the platform.
