As we head into the last half of January, this of course means that the highlight of the Australian tennis calendar is about to begin with the Australian Open kicking off on Monday, and of course the Android app has been updated in Google Play.

The app contains essentially everything you’ll need to follow along the matches, including a live radio station, or if you’re not wanting to listen, live blogs with up to the minute scores. There’s push notifications (for when your favourite player is on court), as well as notifications for those attending the tournament – if you allow the app access to your location – that will let you know about events on the ground.

You can check out the latest news or the official tournament draw and see player information with up to date biographies, or check out the latest stats from the tournament.

Of course the Australian Open is about making a few dollars so you can purchase tickets for the games, or merchandise from the shop, although both of these options appear to just open a webview to the Australian Open website.

The Australian Open runs from the 16th to the 29th of January and the app is available now in Google Play, so head over and grab it before it starts.

The app was not found in the store. 🙁
