Nintendo have recently signaled their intention to move some of their biggest characters over to mobile platforms that are not their own. Sure they may have announced the Switch but that hasn’t stopped them from expanding titles and characters to Android and iOS.
Late last year Super Mario Run arrived on iOS but at the time there was no date or timeframe for an Android release. Today Nintendo have tweeted out a timeframe and a link to it in the Play Store. Translated (by Google) the tweet says:
The Android version “Super Mario Run” will be delivered in March 2017. Currently, Google Play accepts pre-registration to inform you of delivery start by notice. please register.
Android版「Super Mario Run」は、2017年3月に配信を開始します。現在Google Playでは、配信開始を通知でお知らせする事前登録の受付を行っています。ぜひご登録ください。https://t.co/2DW2TnCK6d pic.twitter.com/2QbMM6fGRh

You can pre-register for Super Mario Run on the Play Store, so go and do that if you would like to be notified as soon as it is available.
Before Super Mario arrives we will see Fire Emblem Heroes released to the Play Store, on the 2nd of February. For those unsure what Fire Emblem Heroes entails you can check out the website.
Fire Emblem Heroes is an original strategy-RPG about two warring kingdoms in a bitter clash. As a summoner, players build their army by calling upon Fire Emblem heroes from worlds that span the breadth of the series.
The new Fire Emblem Heroes features new art from a variety of artists and new voices. On the aforementioned website you can vote for your favourite characters of years past and the winning characters will feature in this years game. The game is free with in-app-purchases. Interestingly, this title is arriving on Android first and will cross over to iOS “soon”.
With more Nintendo goodness on its way to Android this year this is a great start. Anyone else out there looking forward to seeing these on their Android device? Any other favourites you’d like to see? MK8? SSB?
I’ll be picking up both; FE Heroes to see how the F2P integration is, and will outright buy Mario
Sometime in March. It’ll have to be early to beat the Switch. The whole point of these games was to raise awareness of their mainline games.
