After announcing Audio Calls were coming to their video conferencing app Duo last week starting in Brazil, Google’s Head of Product for Google Allo and Google Duo, Amit Fulay, has announced the feature is going worldwide.
Mr Fulay announced the update was heading out worldwide via his Twitter account saying simply:
#GoogleDuo Audio calls is rolling out worldwide now …

Audio Calls haven’t made it to our devices as yet, but should work similarly to video calls, though without video. Google announced Audio calls in Brazil as a way to save on bandwidth and hence data costs. Duo was designed to work well on limited connections for video, and should do the same for audio.
We haven’t been Allo’s biggest fan around here, but Duo has always worked well and this feature could be a killer.
Have you seen the Audio calls feature in Google Duo yet?
