Emoji, they’re just going to get more numerous and later this year you’ll be seeing 56 new emoji characters.

The Unicode Consortium, the standards body behind emoji, has announced Unicode Standard V 10 on their blog listing the new characters which now lists 56 new emoji, up from the expected 48 announced back in March. There’s also 183 emoji sequences used for gender and skin-tone variant included as well.

Among the new Emoji will be a T-Rex, as well as a Bitcoin sign and new emoji representing people including ‘Older Adult’. The complete list of new characters included in Unicode V10:

The implementation of new emoji will be left to each manufacturer with Google taking the opportunity to redesign the lovable blob emoji.

We’ll be seeing these fully when Android O drops later this year, so you’ll have to wait till then.

    They still look awful compared to iOS, really makes it look cheap and nasty why can’t they just make them the same as iOS is it a copyright thing?

    Because the iOS emoji look awful. We just want our cute Android blobs back.
