Google’s Local Guides program is offering a new perk to entice users to keep adding details to businesses and locations around the world, with 3 months of NYTimes access.

The offer is being offered to Local Guides in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the U.K, with a bonus for Local Guides who attain Level 5 and above before September 12th being offered the additional perk of 2 months of the Times Crossword access as well. The perk is 100% free. You don’t need to enter credit or debit card information to redeem the offer on the NYTimes website.

Access to the perk is being distributed to Local Guides via email with a unique code being included. The offer must be redeemed by midnight on December 12, 2017.

Users already subscribed to NYTimes.com will unfortunately qualify for 3 months of free access, but the NYTimes does advise you can pass the code on to a family member or friend.

Once you’ve redeemed your three months of NYTimes access, or NYTimes Crossword access for those at level 5 and above, you can download the apps on Google Play (or the iOS app store) for faster access to the news. There’s no credit card required so no pesky trial you have to remember to cancel before you get charged.

Google is looking to push the Local Guides program quite far it seems with quite a few new updates, perks and changes going on. Later this year, Google will introduce Google Lens, an Augmented Reality type option that will let you view information about businesses just by pointing your phone camera around. With Google Local Guides providing up to the date, accurate information it will make it a much better product if that information is correct.

If you’re a Google Local Guide and want access to the NYTimes coverage of world events, culture, food, and travel then check your mailbox for your email from Google Local Guides.
