Google has been busting out their apps from Android into Google Play for some time now. The ease of update to an app vs a system app is vastly different, and now Device Health Services is available in Google Play.
The app update notification for Device Health Services started showing up on Pixel and Nexus handsets overnight. The app description is pretty simple:
Device Health Services predicts how long your phone’s battery will last based on your usage.
Features include:
*Personalized battery usage estimates
With an install base of 500 – 1,000 users (that’s probably spiked overnight), the app was recently updated with support for more models, Model and infrastructure improvements and of course the ever popular ‘Bug Fixes’ ahead of the ‘big’ launch onto Google Play. Screenshots show it’s not terribly exciting, it’s essentially what the description says:
It’s another system app from Google, but with updating an app in Google Play a lot easier than having it updated via system update, we may see some innovation for health services.
