Most users these days are in group chats: Messenger, Whatsapp, Telegram, Slack… The list goes on with supporting apps. But the problem is you can often end up with several conversation threads between individuals happening which gets noisy and confusing if you’re not active in the chat at the time.

Messenger have introduced their fix for this, allowing users to break out of the group thread into a chat thread when a group thread turns into a conversation that is making the group chat noisy and potentially confusing.

Simply long-press on the message to which you want to reply and tap the “reply” icon to quote the message above your response. You can hit “reply” to GIF, video, emoji, text and photo messages and see the full original message in your text thread, so people know exactly what you’re responding to.

Knowing the way group chats with my friends often get fragmented and this is a wonderful addition that (a separate group of friends) have enjoyed in slack for some time now.

What features would you like to see in Messenger to make it more usable for your group chats?
