There’s a new mobile Pokémon game on the block. Pokémon Masters, by Japanese developer DeNA, is releasing on August 29. Pre-registrations are now open.
Pokémon Masters is a team-on-team battle game where you’ll collect trainers old and new from various games throughout the franchise’s history. Each trainer comes with their own Pokemon, forming a “sync pair” that you can use in 3-on-3 battles.
This being a mobile game coming from a Nintendo-related property, there’s lots of in-game microtransactions to deal with for leveling up, evolving Pokémons and more. Not much of a surprise there. It’s DeNA’s forte.
The entire Pokémon franchise in general seems quite interested in its past this year, with efforts also being made to let users transport Pokémons gathered in a bunch of the older games into newer ones. Niantic’s Pokémon Go also continues to add new generations to the game.

You can pre-register for the game in Google Play to be sure you’ll get it as soon as it’s released – you’ll find that button on the Pokémon Masters Play store listing.
