If you’re a South Australian resident — like me — you might’ve missed a big change in the MySA Gov app recently. Yes, it can be used for COVID-19 checkins (much like NSW’s ServiceNSW app) but it has a few cool tricks beyond this too.
The app has the capacity to load your licences, registration and work permits, and importantly, this includes your drivers licence!
This isn’t exactly new, having been announced in July last year, but I’d wager a lot of people missed this – there wasn’t a lot of public fanfare announcing the change.
It was honestly something of a surprise to me when we started doing COVID-19 to find these details when I logged in. But it was a blessing in disguise because the app also offers registration renewal reminders at 28, 14, 7 and 1 day prior to their expiry.
Given we’re now carrying phones that are tap pay capable, carrying our licences digitally is a logical step. Now all you need when you’re heading out the door is your keys and your phone.
If only Victoria could learn from other states and bring this functionality to their citizens.
Been using this from last year, I don’t carry licence anymore if you ever get pulled over just mention to officer that its digital licence and is it ok to touch the phone.
the only thing dragging there feet is MetroSA in SA
Agreed. They had a trial of digital ticketing well before other states but it never eventuated.
