Google is clearly making a big play in the messaging market with their continued efforts on Google Messages lately. Now we’re seeing message sorting appearing via the team at 9to5Google.
The premise is pretty simple with AI on your device recognising and sorting messages into categories. You can choose to use, or not, the sorting options. These categories cover a broad variety of messages you may receive including:
- Personal messages
- One Time Passwords (including 2FA codes) which can be cleared automatically
- Transactions
- Offers that are on your device
While this occurs, the statement made to 9to5 clearly covers privacy concerns:
All of this happens safely on your device so your conversations stay in the app and you can access your categorized messages offline.
This additional feature which has now rolled out in India, adds to the starred conversation and pinch to zoom that rolled out last week. Whether or not you’re using SMS heavily, Google Messages has to be edging up to becoming the go-to text messaging app.
