In light of the tragic events in France this morning, Telstra has joined Optus in offering free calls to France for both their mobile and fixed line customers.
Telstra is offering customers the chance to check on friends and relatives, with free standard voice and texts to France from midnight last night (12:01am) until midnight (11:59pm) on the 21st of July. For pre-paid customers this means you will be offered a refund of the cost of your standard voice calls or SMS made to France during the same period. Telstra says that ‘refunds will be applied by 29 July’.
There’s going to be a lot of worried people trying to contact their family and friends in France, and Telstra reminds customers that ‘disruption to services in France may impact calls getting through’.
