Just over half a year after the launch of the R9s, OPPO is back with the R11 – its latest premium midrange smartphone. Following a short pre-order period, the R11 is now available at retailers and telcos Australia wide. ColorOS continues to make departures from how you’d expect Android to typically behave, but if you can handle a couple of quirks and a bit of a learning curve, the R11 represents great value.

Outright, the R11 retails for $649 and you’ll find it in a number of brick and mortar retailers: JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, and Officeworks. If you’re after OPPO’s latest on a contract, Virgin, Vodafone, and Woolworths Mobile are your three choices.

Virgin continues to win at bang-for-buck, and will sell you the R11 and 4GB of data for $50 per month. Velocity Frequent Flyers get a 10% discount before the end of August (membership is free), so can easily bring down your monthly bill to $45.

If you’d like the benefit of Telstra’s network, Woolworths Mobile could be the way to go. The telcos 4GB plan is a little more expensive than Virgin’s – $55 per month rather than $50 – but I’d nonetheless call it pretty good value.

Of course, given the R11 is only $649, you might not want to lock yourself into a two-year contract for a midrange device. Here are a couple of my favourite SIM only offers going around right now.

If you’re okay with signing a 12-month contract, you can get 12GB for $50 a month for Telstra, or 14GB for $40 on Optus.

If you’d prefer no contract, Jeenee is doing 10GB for $35 a month (with a $10 setup fee) and Amaysim is now offering a 14GB recharge (28 days) for $50.

But if you’d still prefer to get the R11 on a contract, here are all the plans you can get OPPO’s latest on in Australia:
