During the recent bushfire disaster faced across Australia, the carriers offered our firefighters financial relief in the form of free mobile access. Optus has decided to do the same during the COVID-19 pandemic for our heroic health workers offering them three months of free mobile access for postpaid customers.
In a statement, Optus acknowledges the selfless work of our healthcare professionals with the CEO going further in recognising their frontline work against the Coronavirus.
We are so grateful to all the nurses, doctors, and other healthcare workers who are working in unprecedented conditions. So, we will be waiving their Optus mobile bill access charges in recognition of their invaluable support and dedication.
We understand how much everyone is relying on communications services to keep our communities – including our health professionals – connected. We will continue to work tirelessly to maintain the strength of our network and to prioritise critical service needs. We are proud to recognise and support the heroes on the front line who are supporting us.
This comes shortly after Optus announced the further measures they’re taking to support customers during the pandemic.
The measures announced previously include:
- Ability to put your current Optus plan on hold should there be no current need for the service
- Waiving of late payment fees for all Optus customers until 30 April
- Stopping of disconnection and credit collection activities until 30 April.
- Optus will also be providing more support for customers eligible for the Government Coronavirus financial support.
They have also further extended an increase of mobile data allowances, suspending Optus Sport subscription fees until 31 May 2020 and removing data caps from all fixed broadband services until the end of May.
If you’re needing or eligible for any of the above mentioned financial assistance pathways – data caps and fee waiting on subscriptions are automatically applied – head over to the Optus Coronavirus support page which goes live today.
There are others on the front line too. Dont forget PCAs and phlebotomists who are in contact with potential covid patients, but they dont have AHPRA numbers
