News coming out of Camp TechCrunch is that the Google Nexus One just might be getting Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) in ‘a few days’, well that’s if you don’t have to wait for Vodafone to load it up with obligatory bloatware beforehand. This news comes from the leader of the Open Handset Alliance (OHA) that overlooks the inner workings of Android, whom Tweeted:
Prepare your Nexus One (Developer version) for Android OTA update 2.3 (Gingerbread) in the next few days:-D
So if the developer version of the N1, that is sold via Google to Android Devs, is getting the update in a few days, it’s only a matter of time before we see other devices get the update officially as well as handfuls of devices getting it unofficially. Excited? I am.

Mmmm Nexii
Oh gods of the Nexus phones, please let there be a nexus 2 or nexus S or watever you wanna call it, as long as it’s an unlocked phone to come out soon!
like the current nexus one isnt a beast, we dont need another yet.
Like you’re gonna say no to a new Nexus, it’ll most likely have best hardware just like when the Nexus 1 came out.
yes but it really isnt necessary right now, the current nexus is badass enough
I read last week on a UK phone website that there is going to be a nexus two and apparently it is only going to be sold in stores this time. This may mean not even on contracts but outright. They were also saying they were currently looking around for a manufacturer but Samsung was not one of them. Whether any of this is true or not is unknown but interesting if it is.
At the same time, there are plenty of rumours that samsung is the manufacturer. Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see.
I have a Desire which I rooted with Unrevoked3 straight after updating the Telstra 2.2. Was easy like Blackra1n on iPhone. But custom roms I can’t get my head around. I looked up what oem unlock is and beyond me. I’ll have to wait for 2.3 on my Nexus. Waited for Telstra can wait for Google.
Would that be all Nexus Ones or just to registered developers. Looking forward to this. I like the UI on the Nexus and will be interested to see what changes are made.
Sounds like it’s just for registered developers first off. But if you’ve got a Nexus One, you’d be stupid not to oem unlock it and put on a custom Gingerbread ROM when they become available.
it took so long for google to push out 2.2 to my AT&T (on telstra) nexus one that i just went to XDA and got the update. there was about 2-3 2.2 build updates in the end as well. dev phones definitely get it first, just go to XDA and stock roms with it will show up pretty quickly. this update better have hardware acceleration, its stupid not having it in this day and age! iphone and winmo7 have it android should and if it doesnt get it by the time i get a new phone im not sticking with… Read more »
