Ladies and gentlemen, meet the HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio — if you’re a HTC Sensation owner, look away. The Sensation XE is HTC’s first phone to integrate with Beats Audio, whom they teamed up with (for $300m) to provide better audio quality to the masses. There’s also a new 1.5GHz Dual-Core CPU under the hood along with more juice in the battery — 1730mAh, over the 1530mAh in the Sensation.
There’s no announcements to say the Sensation XE is coming to Australia, however, the press release does mention an Asia Pacific release for later this month — whether Telstra have the exclusive over the Sensation and the Sensation XE is unknown. As it’s the first HTC phone with Beats Audio, there’s a set of Dr. Dre in-ear headphones with media remote (pause, play, next, prev) that also allows for call and end functions. HTC says..
Whether you are using any of the many music services available in the Android market you will notice fuller bass and crisper vocals and a new level of clarity and range offering audio the way the artist intended it to be heard.
But are they better than the Sennheiser CX300II headphones I just bought? That’s a the real question here.. Oh, and are you an owner of a Sensation and pissed off you didn’t wait for this? Press release after the break.

I bought an HCT sensation in Vatan Computer in TURKEY and after use of 10 days, much dust started under touch screen display, and I gave service that is Teleservice (very bad service, do not buy anything warrantied by TELESERVICES) in TURKEY, also I desired them to get money back, because this is my right, laws give this right to me in TURKEY, so they do not want to give my money back and they gave me HTC sensation XE with respect to their saying, that is pleasing for customer, and also I didnt admit then I resent smartphone which… Read more »

Well I just hope they make the bigger battery available to current owners of the sensation
The phone is different… with the better specs and beats audio its more or less an upgraded version of the original HTC sensation. Does anyone else think that all phones should feature beats audio or similar?
It’s probably just Beats earphones + Beats software… I doubt there’re any hardware changes ie change the audio chip
Interesting how the phone will detect the Beats earphones… perhaps some sort of proprietary jack? Plus Beats phones are mostly just for the looks, bass is too boomy and somewhat muddy, probably similar to the Senny’s CX300 lol
That said, very nice looking phone (just by adding some red!)
Telstra exclusivity runs out at the same time ie late September.
Well according to Paul O’Brien of modaco fame and bumble Droid (Cm7 sensation developer) the ex is basically same phone different rom..and beats does sfa …nice one HTC…
Needs moar Voodoo Sound 🙂
I really want this to come to telstra. I was going to get the Galaxy S2 this chirssy but i think this just hit the top of my list.
I’ve been waiting for the official statement from HTC. As it’s not much of a wait, I’ll definitely hang out for the XE. Will be interesting to see what the price is.
Beat Audio in this phone just for headphones or they changed the loud speaker as well?
loud speaker and all headphones i think- well, thats how the hack works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253447
as you know, i am a sensation owner, and i am not pissed off i didnt wait, i am pissed off they didnt just do this in the first place (re: specs that is).. ffs… its a small bump so why didnt they do it in the first place. I have been a HTC fanboy for a looong time but i fear that is coming to an end (geoff will be happy).. the sensation is a great phone now i have CM7 on it, but with sense its not the best… and then HTC release a dodgy broken kernel source and a… Read more »
The red backlit capacitive buttons look cool.
It’s all rather vague what “Beats” actually is.
Nice headphones + some obscure software. A bit of equalizer bass adjustment?
Hmmm…
I would think that it’s a mixture of both, but we can’t be too certain at this point.
