Over in the US, HTC have just announced the HTC Rhyme, a phone that is aimed to the female smartphone market — a fairly cool idea if you ask me. The device comes in both silver and ‘plum purple’ along with most of its accessories, one of which is a charm that, when connected to the Rhyme, will pulse light whenever you receive a notification. There’s also tangle-free headphones (not Beats Audio), a bluetooth headset, a bluetooth car speaker and a docking station. We’re guessing the last 2 or 3 of those will be separate purchases from the device itself.
Specs on the HTC Rhyme aren’t too shabby either:
– 3.7 inch WVGA display,
– Single-core 1GHz Qualcomm S2 MSM8655 processor, 768MB of RAM,
– 5MP rear autofocus camera with LED flash, front-facing camera,
– Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread skinned with Sense UI 3.5,
– 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack,
– 1600mAh battery,
– HTC Watch.
As with most device launches, the Rhyme will first be available in the USA then the UK followed by all the other countries.. and then us, so there’s no word on a release here just yet. Hit the break to see a press videos of the HTC Rhyme.
GSM Arena are reporting that the docking station comes with the phone. The Bluetooth headset and car speaker are extras.
I’m very much not a lady, but I kind of like the look of this as a mid-range phone. It’s less boring-looking than the Desire S, has Sense 3.5, and a slightly larger battery (1600mAh vs. 1450mAh). If I were in the market for a mid-range droid right now I’d be taking a real close look at this one.
