The Asus Transformer Prime, possibly the first tablet Quad-Core cpu tablet to hit the market, has been rumoured to be announced on November 9 in the US but the device will most likely not be released there till at least early December as Google has reportedly agreed to help Asus launch it with Android 4.0(Ice Cream Sandwich). These are the details for the US, for Australia we may not see it for a while after that, Fudzilla is reporting that :
Since the US market cares about tablets a bit more than the old continent, they will get the new Tegra 3 tablet first. The EU, Australia and probably even Asia will get this product at later date, but this will depend from country to country
From the Asus product landing page the only solid details we have is that it will run a Quad-Core cpu, however The Verge has listed the Prime as coming with a 10.1″ capacitive touch screen, the CPU will be clocked at 1.4GHz, run with 1Gb of RAM, have an SD card slot for expandable memory & a feature a very impressive 16.5 hour battery life when using the keyboard docking station.
So if Asus are planning to launch the Prime in December in the US, I don’t personally see it launching in Australia before next year unfortunately. The fact Australia has been mentioned however is a good sign, Ausdroid writer Irwin loves his Transformer and Asus have shown a willingness to update their tablets as soon as a release is available, so this would certainly be my recommendation to anyone looking for a tablet early next year. Rest assured we’ll be keeping a very close eye on this and as soon as more details come to hand we’ll let you know.
I just spoke to someone at Asus who confirmed the Asus transformer prime will be available in Australia at JB Hi Fi and Harvey Norman mid December.
Good.
More companies should do that.
I will be all over it if it does release with ics, although I was hoping for something with ir booster ala Xoom 2 for controlling TV etc
Seriously can’t wait for this, any mention of ability to add a SIM for data?
Be shocked if it has it, the 3G transformer hasn’t even hit the market yet!
Probably best to wait for the announcement on November 9th in the US(10th here in Australia) they should release that sort of info then, then its down to local availability through places like JB HiFi
