Android 4.0 ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ is surely on track to become to slowest version of Android to hit devices. The latest device dashboard from Google shows that 1.6% of devices accessing the Android Market are running Android 4.0.x. This is up .6% over the past 2-3 weeks.

The majority of users are still running Android 2.2 ‘Froyo’ (23.5%) and Android 2.3 ‘Gingerbread’ (61.5%), which are both over 18 months old.

We do know that Samsung is planning to push out Android 4.0 to its Galaxy S II devices over the course of the next 2-3 weeks, so we’ll definitely see an increase of that 1.6%. Still, it’s time for all the manufacturers to pull their finger out and push that latest version of Android to their capable devices.

1.6%??? What a load of crap!! If not able to optimize and make it widely available, don’t make it at all. Incompetent bunch of losers. That’s why Android us so far away from dominating the market!!! Maybe never will!!

Custom Roms are not only rock, but they bet waiting on the telco’s to release their version, which may never come.
I dual boot my phone, currently running 2.3.3 and 4.0.3, I wonder what that’s doing for the stats….

And we wait for Droptus to release the update. Will take forever to fill it with their bloatware.
Anyone else notice the near halting of data on Optus lately ? Their data is grinding to a halt and far worse for me than Vodafone ever was.

Glad, well not really, but that others think Optus is grinding to a Halt of late. Painfully slow.

They need to lift their game or I’ll ditch them in July at contact end.

I was beginning to blame my phone – SGS – gettings old as the problem. Especially are playing with my Tab 7.7 which is on Telstra at the moment.
