Your lovely shiny new HTC One X or soon One S or One V is awesome, it runs Sense 4.0 based on Ice Cream Sandwich and you`re part of the 7%, but Google let loose Jelly Bean yesterday so when can you start tasting the new goodness? Well over at Android Central they asked just that question and HTC came back with :

“We are excited about Android Jelly Bean and are planning to support it across a variety of our devices. We are reviewing the software to determine our upgrade plans and schedule, so please stay tuned for more updates on specific device upgrade plans.”

So there you have it, they`re looking at it. You would think as one of the original manufacturers of hardware for the Android Platform and makers of one of the most popular handsets at the moment in the One X/XL that HTC would be getting access to the PDK (Platform Development Kit) that Google spoke about at yesterdays keynote, still give it a month or two and we’ll see what they have to say.

You would hope that 4.0 to 4.1 is not a huge jump so time to release may be less. Maybe 6 months instead of 9 months like normal.

I’m hoping the minor bump to 4.1 means a quicker implementation. Unfortunately I expect Telstra will sit on it for ages….

I am cautiously optimistic we’ll get it this millennia.

I’m pretty sure that’s almost exactly the same comment – nearly verbatim – that they released when ICS was announced.

1. Replace “Ice Cream Sandwich” with “Jelly Bean”
2. Release “new” statement
3. …..
4. Profit!

Let’s hope they don’t string it out…bring on the updates..
