We’ve received inside word on Telstra’s upcoming HTC One S launch. As was announced at the official launch event of the One S, it will indeed be launching tomorrow, July 17th, but pricing has remained a mystery. Until now.

Secret Squirrel has returned again, bringing us the pricing for the One S, and it’s not pretty so prepare your wallets if you’re interested:

  • $40 Every Day Plan: $15/mo
  • $60 Every Day Plan: $6/mo
  • $80 Every Day Plan: $0 upfront
  • $100 Every Day Plan: $0 upfront
  • Outright: $648

According to the Telstra pricing documentation we received, this puts it on the exact same pricing as the HTC One XL. Obviously Telstra thinks the One S can compete with the 4G-capable One XL just fine. We think otherwise. How about you guys? Will you be grabbing yourself a One S from Telstra?

Had my Telstra HTC one S for since the 17th PRO – Its quick the 1.7Ghz chip does the job fine. – Thin feels good in the hand. – Screen is awsome – With standard headphones and Power Amp app with beats audio turned on music sounds awsome!!! – Camera is AWSOME CONS – It may be 16gb storage but u only get 2.21gb internal storage and 9.93gb phone storage. – The Signal Strength IS AWFULL ! ( its not blue ticked) The single is not stable it always going up and down and drops out all the the time… Read more »

Telstra is over charging people again for a crappy last year specs phone. For that price, it’s cheaper to buy it outright from overseas store.

No_Underscore

very sad news for the One S… especially if its the now S3 chipped device.
Telstra is probably still reading the spec sheet they received when they signed up to it at CES.
Didn’t Optus price the One S the same ?

They are clearly betting on its slim styling to pull the customers. It will probably do okay as there aren’t too many phones at that screen size.

dismayed

Telstra and value really shouldn’t be used in the same sentence still I see

Timothy Boyce

This is… interesting. Any word from Telstra on why they chose to price the XL and S the same? Doesn’t make much sense…

GM

Maybe its S4 chip

Buzz Moody

Highly doubt it. HTC AU only shows S3.

Luke Walsh

Isn’t the One S lower spec to the One X or XL? how the hell can it be on the same plans??? if it was cheaper maybe

Buzz Moody

Correct, it is lower spec’d. As far as we can tell it’s the Snapdragon S3 version, so it doesn’t even have the same CPU as the One XL.

We’re very confused by Telstra’s pricing on this.

Jason Lockart

…There’s an S3 version?

Buzz Moody

Yeah. Dual-Core 1.7GHz.

Hikari0307

Due to global shortage of the Snapdragon S4 processor, HTC started shipping the HTC One S with the snapdragon S3 in certain markets clocked at a higher speed. They assured customers it’ll give the same experience but we all know otherwise and it is an inferior model.
