Just 6 days ago at the launch of the RAZR HD, RAZR HD MAXX and RAZR M, Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt announced that there had been 480 Million Android Devices activated worldwide at a rate of 1.3 Million devices per day. Well, this information must have been a couple of days old because according to a tweet this morning from Andy Rubin, Senior Vice President, Mobile and Digital Content at Google there are now half a billion Androids now activated in the world.
There have been half a billion android activations to date, with over 1.3m added every day.

Apparently Google is still activating devices at a rate of over 1.3 Million per day which is a lot of new devices but when Android smart phones are selling at prices as low as $44.50, this number is sure to get even higher.
For those curious about these device activations statistics Andy Rubin did actually address concerns about how they are counted in a Google+ post in December last year. So, Onwards and Upwards for Android activations. Race you to a Billion Apple.
