GalaxySIV
Well, it’s that time, we have our Nexus -well it’s been released anyway even if most people can’t actually get their hands on it, so that must mean it’s time for the rumours to start on the other big name device in the Android world the Samsung Galaxy S IV. Overnight, SamMobile have posted a picture that they have received of a picture of a screenshot of what is supposed to be the Samsung Galaxy S IV.

To start with it’s missing the home button that all of the Galaxy S line have had so far, but that could be finally a move in the right direction in accepting what Google has decreed to be the way Android is going with soft buttons. But bear in mind that there is plenty of space down the bottom there for Samsung to still add a physical key between now and the release. The bezel at the side is minimal, not sure how I feel about the rim around the edge. As a whole, the render appears to take more than a few design cues from the Note 2 overall and I wouldn’t be surprised to find out this is merely a photoshopped Note 2 render.

Spec wise there isn’t much other than rumours which SamMobile have also had a crack at, what they have so far is this :

  • Exynos 5450 Quad-Core CPU clocked at 2.0GHz
  • Mali-T658 GPU
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 4.99” SuperAMOLED FULL HD resolution (1080×1920) Display
  • 13 Megapixel Rear Facing Camera
  • 2 Megapixel Front Facing Camera
  • Android 4.2.1 (Out of the box)

Sounds about right for the hardware we’re seeing both now and expected to be seen in the next few months and speaking of the next few months, SamMobile has actually found a screen capture from Samsung Lebanon of all places which states that the Galaxy S IV won’t be seen until at least May :
Facebook - Samsung Lebanon
They did try to play down the info by stating ‘ Hello guys, What we said is only trivial since all Galaxy S series are released between late April and Early May, yet there’s no way for anyone to know the exact release date :)’ which is about right although the Galaxy S II was shown off at MWC in February so this is a bit off but not really by much.

So that’s what’s out there currently for the moment, it’s not much but Samsung did do a darned good job of keeping the Galaxy S III a pretty tight secret until its launch last year. So, what do you think of the render? let us know in the comments.

Don’t buy that leaked photo, and I don’t see why the screen would be 4.99

This picture looks exactly like the fake leaked S3 images which appeared in some ‘official company’ slideshow last year.

Yea, that’s exactly what I thought… Hmm, haven’t I seen this picture before last year?

Anthony

Fake.

Right now if the phone hands been made, it wouldn’t be final form and would have dummy case over it. Also why is there a reflection on the bottom as if it’s sitting directly on glass?

I’d also be surprised if they ditched the physical home button and two capacitive buttons for on screen buttons. They seem to be happy with how their layout works.

One fatal design flaw… Touchwiz.

It adds features that Android would otherwise not have, although it’s incredibly bloated. It’d be great if it was 10x faster.

5 inches is just too big for me (ha). I wish they would come back towards b4 or 4.3 inches

All I know is that even if the S4 was released as a triangle I’d still upgrade straight away! Currently on the S3 4G and loving it.
