Samsung Galaxy S III Jelly Bean

Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 for the Galaxy S III is still under internal testing by Samsung, but as is often the case, it has leaked it’s way into the big wide world of the internet.

Thanks to SamMobile, Android 4.2.1 has been made available to the public, even though the official release isn’t expected until after Samsung have launched the Galaxy S IV. With a build date of 19th February, firmware I9300XXUFMB3 brings a number of enhancements sure to please Galaxy S III owners.

  • Android 4.2.1 (JOP40D)
  • New Android 4.2.1 Lockscreen and widgets
  • Improved Ripple effect on Samsung Lockscreen
  • Daydream (that nifty screensaver)
  • Notification Center additions and improvements
  • Voice Command

The firmware has been repackaged into an ODIN flashable firmware by SamMobile, and has been fully tested, but as always, caveat emptor – flash this, or any non-official firmware at your own risk. And since this is a pre-release version, bugs should be expected.

You can grab the firmware from the source below.

I have installed it into my S3. I am unable to use Messaging service as the app doesn’t open. There are still some issues with this update.

I got the same issue. Any solutions?

I hope this fixes battery life and charging on mains. At present (JB 4.1.2) it charges quicker on laptop than on mains. Battery drains to fast for my liking.

I hope they get it to 4.2.2 before release. 4.2.2 fixes a lot of bugs with Bluetooth and battery life.
