glass

Now that the Google Glass Explorer Edition units are out there, as always there’s people trying to make a profit while doing evil. The early release was intended to give those who are prepared to boldly go where no one has gone before the opportunity to try the device, advise Google of their experience and make recommendations, as well as allowing developers an early chance to try their concepts out.

Yesterday, a Google Glass unit was sighted on eBay at an amazing £100,000 (that’s a touch over $148,000 Aussie Dollars) – and they were promptly removed, though there’s been no official word as to why. It seems that either the user read the terms of sale, or Google got wind of the sale and had it removed through official channels.

The Google Glass Explorer Edition terms of sale quite explicitly state that once you purchase Glass, it’s yours:

Glass Explorer Edition

This device-specific Addendum only applies if you purchase a Glass Explorer Edition Device.

You must be 18 years or older, a resident of the United States, and authorized by Google as part of the Glass Explorer program in order to purchase or use Glass Explorer Edition. Unless otherwise authorized by Google, you may only purchase one Device, and you may not resell, loan, transfer, or give your Device to any other person. If you resell, loan, transfer, or give your device to any other person without Google’s authorization, Google reserves the right to deactivate the Device, and neither you nor the unauthorized person using the Device will be entitled to any refund, product support, or product warranty.

The devices are currently only available in the USA. If you’re financially well enough endowed to purchase one of these units from an unscrupulous eBay seller, we would suggest that you hold on to your money and purchase through official channels when Glass becomes available in Australia.

Will you be getting Google Glass when it’s available in Australia? Let us know in the comments below!
