At Mobile World Congress, during a Q&A Session on Twitter, Motorola announced that they would finally be releasing their higher end phone the Moto X in Australia. The first sign of the phone arriving here has come in the form of a tip that Telechoice will begin carrying the Moto X in their stores.
Motorola Australia has so far declined to comment further on the announcement of the Moto X arriving locally, but the tip we’ve received says that Telechoice will begin selling the Moto X for $599. Unfortunately, there’s currently no release date for the phone, but we believe it could launch as soon as next month.
Dissappointingly, any hopes that the customisation service, Moto Maker, would also launch here have been quashed, with the tip advising that Telechoice will only offer the phone in Black or White.
There’s surely going to be an official announcement for the Moto X when it launches here in Australia and with its LTE support the Moto X could actually wind up on a carrier. We’ll be following up with all the carriers and Motorola on Monday to see if there’s any official announcements they wish to share.
Haha, what are they smoking? It should be $399 max.
Maybe this is just Telechoice overestimating the allure of this phone and NOT the actual RRP by Motorola.

Not even in the contest…Nexus 5 32GB is still $30 cheaper ($449+19.95 postage = $468.95), has twice the storage, higher peformance, and a better screen to boot.
The Moto have be optimised for its chipset, but at the end of the day, it still runs near-stock Android on a dual-core Snapdragon S4. Nexus 5 runs pure stock Android on a beefier version of the processor, so it will inevitably perform better, and get more timely updates.
$599? Someone cue the laugh track.
That’s at least $100 too expensive. I hope that’s not Motorola’s official pricing.
Exactly right. Too much for phone which will be replaced mid-year.
