The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is the first phone in the so called ‘Mini’ line of products which has promised to deliver on the much cited but never delivered upon line from marketing people of ‘No Compromises’. When announced earlier this year at CES it caused a great stir and now Telstra has put the Xperia Z1 Compact up for pre-order on their site with free delivery being offered for online orders.
The Z1 is only available for pre-order on-contract, Telstra support staff are unable to advise of a full outright price for the handset at this stage. If you’re interested these new plans seem to fall in line with the ‘Mobile Accelerate’ Plans that Telstra recently announced and should include the option to add the Telstra ‘New Phone Feeling’ option to upgrade after 12 months.
The plans begin at $63 per month, although based on the Telstra Mobile Accelerate plan structure would include an $8 per month Handset repayment($55+$8), includes $550 of Talk time and MMS credit as well as unlimited Text and 500MB of data, with a total cost of $1512.
While Telstra social media staff were advising that the phone will be in-store on the 18th of March, previous information indicates an April release and there is a pre-order bonus that Telstra are running which ends on the 31st of March that supports the April launch date. The pre-order bonus for the Xperia Z1 Compact on Telstra is a free bluetooth headset

I’m hearing it’s now in stock locally at $552 outright from Telstra.
Will you guys from Ausdroid be reviewing this handset soon?
I absolutely bit the bullet when i saw this. Z1 Compact is just the phone i’ve been looking for to upgrade my Sony Xperia S.
Originally purchased through Mobicity at $669 then decided to cancel because it is a good deal Telstra is offering.
I’d bite but not until I see if the kitkat update will fix the excessive noise on the otherwise capable camera – as it stands it taints everything
I’ll wait till I can get it outright. I’m also keen to see it in store first as well just in case I don’t like it as much as a I think I will.
Currently 650 and shipping now on Mobicity though ….
