Australian bargain site Catch of the Day is having a “Technothon” sale ending approximately at 11am Sydney time Thursday morning which includes a few Android devices.
Amongst the usual supply of monitors, laptops, headphones, hard drives, routers and SD cards you’ll find some Sony and Samsung devices from the past year – you might be able to save some money on a phone or tablet you’ve had your eye on for a while.
So here is a list of the specials available
AOC
AOC is a very unknown device maker and seems to be only limited to the technothon sale and the company has offered AOC’s All-in-One 21.5” Full HD Android PC for $229. The device sadly is running Android 4.1 and there is no idea if the company would consider updating this newer Android software.

Kobo have gone down the track of Amazon when it comes to offering their own Android tablet devices. Kobo do seem popular despite being a forked version of what Android basically is. Catch of the day are offering the Kobo Arc 10 HD Android Tablet which is a huge 10.1″ screen.
Other specs include Nvidia Tegra 4 quad-core 1.8GHz processor, Android 4.2.2, Dual speakers, 16GB internal storage, Bluetooth version 4.0 just for starters.
CotD are offering the Kobo Arc 10 HD Android Tablet available in black only for $279.99.

If you’re after a tablet, the Xperia Tablet Z is a 10.1″ tablet which is still technically their current flagship tablet, given that their Xperia Z2 Tablet has yet to go on-sale here. It’s the 16GB WiFi model and is going for $469.00 + shipping.

The HTC One (M7) was last years biggest success for the struggling Tiawanese company. The One M7 has brought a very unique design which has been critically acclaimed as one of the best designs around for a smartphone, well for an Android smartphone that is. The HTC One (M7) is being offered for $549.95+ Shipping and has an ‘Almost Gone’ status

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet is available in both 4G and Wifi versions. We quite liked the Note 8.0 but thought it was priced a little high at release, so this is a good opportunity to snap it up. The 4G version is $459.95 while the Wifi model is $329.00. Both models have 16GB of storage.

The Z2 is Sony’s flagship and came out a few months ago. The Z1 would have came out 6 months or more before that.
So basically they’re offering up ‘older’ model phones and tablets for… okay-ish prices.
Still, thanks for bargain watching for us!
FYI the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is already available in Australia. 16GB WiFi model is $599 RRP from Sony’s Online Store. Showing on JB HiFi website for $598. And also available from Telstra. RRP for the old model (the one at CotD) is now $539, but I’ve seen it as selling for as low as $400 in the past.
Yeah was about to say this. The Z2 tablet IS available for sale in Australia. A few weeks ago I walked into Telstra, and they’re selling the 4G model and stores like JB Hi Fi are selling the wifi models.
