Pre-paid smartphones are generally quite small, with manufacturers aiming to cut costs on one of the more expensive components. But Boost Mobile is bucking the trend here, by offering the Boost Mobile View 5.0, a $99 pre-paid smartphone on the Telstra network with a 5″ screen.
The Boost Mobile View 5.0, is a rebranded Alcatel OneTouch which Boost are saying is the first $99 phone with a 5″ screen in Australia. They’re also pretty proud of their offering, saying ‘This is arguably the highest spec phone under $100 on offer in Australia’. But it is a $99, so it’s not going to be top of the line when it comes to specs. For example, the 5″ screen has a fairly meagre 480×854 resolution, it’s 3G only and it’s running Jelly Bean.
But, it does have that big screen, if that’s what you’re looking for. Other specs included in the phone :
- 1.3GHz Quad Core Processor
- 4GB internal memory with microSD card slot up to 32GB
- 5MP Camera
- Radios:
- GSM/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900
- 3G: 850/1900/2100
- Jelly Bean
- 141×71.8×9.9mm @ 160grams
- Battery:
- Talktime up to 8.5 hours
- Standby up to 500hrs
The Boost Mobile View 5.0 is now available from Boost Mobile. The phone has not yet shown up on the Boost Website, but we hope to see it there soon. If you’re interested in the phone you could also check one of the many Boost Mobile retailers around the country.
