Samsung has basically confirmed that Android 5.0 Lollipop will be coming to older devices in its Galaxy range, including the Galaxy Note 2, and last year’s Galaxy S4. Bucking the trend shown by some other manufacturers where only more recent handsets will receive the update, Samsung has published information on its Finnish website indicating Lollipop is indeed on its way to these two devices.

The Galaxy S4 isn’t a huge surprise, as it’s not really that old (and still within carrier contracts for those who’ve purchased that way), however the Galaxy Note 2 is a bit older (i.e. 2012 vintage), and its inclusion is a bit of a surprise.

Like any updates, though, these have to go through Samsung’s testing, and then acceptance testing with local carriers, so while the updates might not be all that far away, getting them released onto Australian handsets could still be a way off. It is good to see, though, that Samsung is looking after owners of older devices, especially top-shelf models like the Galaxy Note range.

Any Idea when the LG G3 will get the update in Australia?
