If you’re looking for a bit more detail about the weather than Google’s Weather cards provide on your Android Wear device, then maybe you should revisit AccuWeather. AccuWeather has had apps on Android for as long as I can remember, and they’ve now added Android Wear integration to their popular Android app (which has been downloaded over 10 million times).
It’s more than just a flash-card though; the new app includes a forecast information screen, details on rain in the last hour, an hour-by-hour outlook for the day, as well as weather advisories.
Unfortunately, some of the other killer features of AcuuWeather aren’t supported in Australia; this includes ‘MinuteCast’ which gives you minute-by-minute precipitation forecasts for the next two hours in a very localised fashion, and weather alerts are generally only supported in the US, as well as weather radars.
So, while it’s pretty cool, and definitely a must-look if you’re an Android Wear user, for a local weather app, you’re probably still better off with PocketWeather. It’s Australian made, for one, and it also uses info from our own Bureau of Meteorology, so it’s a bit more accurate most of the time.
AccuWeather is free, but there’s a premium ad-free version available as well.
