Like a lot of manufacturers, in the eyes of their paying customers Sony have been a little tardy in their delivery of Lollipop. It wasn’t until the middle of March that users were able to get Lollipop goodness on their Z3 Tablet Compact, Z2 Tablet and Z2 phones with a similar time frame on the Z3 and Z3 Compact phones.
Sony are making the effort to catch up to the current release with the announcement overnight that the roll-out of Lollipop is continuing with delivery to the Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact, Z Ultra and Z3 Dual having begun overnight (Australian time) to selected regions, with more to follow in the coming weeks. The follow up devices include the dual SIM T2 Ultra and C3 phones and “starting in a few weeks” the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will all see an update.
The unfortunate part of updating a Sony stock product is the PC connected method they use rather than pushing an OTA like other manufacturers do, so it’s worth checking your system -> Settings -> About Phone menu to see if there’s an upgrade ready for your Xperia devices.
What device/s are you running that are yet to receive a Lollipop update?
Got the lollipop update for my Z3 Compact yesterday, imported from the UK model. Yet to see anything for my Z1 Compact, bought in Australia Telstra model. Probably won’t ever see it on the Telstra branded handset.
It will come when it comes…but one thing is for sure, no more Sony for me.
lollipop is love, lollipop is life.
Posted from My Note 4 running lolliwiz 5.0.1
Forget Z, I still haven’t received update on my Australian stock Generic Xperia Z3.
Sony Xperia Z (C6603). No update to date :(. Might be the last time I buy a Sony.
Read the article. its says ‘starting in a few weeks’
Hehe! I read it. Was just venting. I have numerous devices which have bee promised some Lollipop love but none of them have received it. Hence the need to vent.
because your device is old,..
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I guess. But I still maintain my Xperia Z is not old. But that is besides the point. The Z is Sony’s first marque model just like the M7 was for HTC. Guess what, my wife’s M7 just received Lollipop. So if one company can update their marquee, why can’t another?
HTC made 1(one) flagship a year. Sony made 2 a year. So if you know how to count you`ll see that are more devices for sony to update. And that`s the reason for the delay. I hope you understand.
And by the way, how many devices did HTC updated to lollipop? I think sony has about 10-15
you demand for a fast action from sony and gave a comment that it is the last time you buy their product,. you don’t even knew that your device will get an update in the first place..and yet you antagonized for the reason of no update but your device is just a “hitch hiker” on the ongoing roll out,..
This guy… Has a original Xperia Z and is complaining he is not getting Lollipop fast enough… Most other manufactures are not even updating thier phones that are that old… Be counted lucky.
Easy on. The final comment in the article is a question that asks “What device/s are you running that are yet to receive a Lollipop update?” That is all I am doing. Answering the question that Phil asked. And how you were able to read my comment that my Z had not received Lollipop as complaining, I will never know. Due to Sony’s slowness in doing anything, I really will not purchase another Sony phone. And for your information, I purchased the Xperia Z in 2013 so in my eyes, that is NOT old. Old is my HTC Desire.
still old,..you should be thankful, despite of the oldness of that piece of s**t it’s included for the update,.
1 GB RAM Quadcore 1,5 GHz 13MP Camera and 2MP selfie Camera and its Full HD Display with Bravia Engine!!!!!!!! is for you OLD? Wtf I would say Sony Ericsson series are old but Xperia Z models never. Maybe after 4 Years. Well you should know that this phone was the first phone what sony ever made. The Best of Sony…
Thank you for the support, friend.
2GB and by the way Sony has 2 years of updates plan. Most of producers don`t even bother. So keep calm man and be happy that you are going to receive it. Don`t be an a**hole
arrogant,.it’s still old,. you should be thankful, despite of the oldliness of your device it’s still included for the update, you’re expecting to be served first but dude,..your phone is rolling out too,. rolling out to be phased out,.
Arrogant? Let insult you back by calling you illiterate then because you are still missing the point. The point is, Phil asked the question “What device/s are you running that are yet to receive a Lollipop update?” and I was simply answering the question. This is my final say on this matter. Think what you want. I accept that 3 generations is rather old in the Android world but not in mine.
