Whilst sifting recent FCC filings we have come across an interesting device that has just made its way through the FCC – the USA regulator for testing electronic and communications equipment – certification process. The LG-VC200 is a CDMA Smartwatch intended for use on the Verizon CDMA network in the USA. The device as pictured above measures 56 mm by 41.5 mm with a display measuring 33mm diagonally.

- Wifi b/g on the 2.4 GHz spectrum
- Bluetooth 4.0 LE
- Non-accessible rechargeable battery
- Wireless hotspot functionality – Disabled
- Wi-Fi direct functionality – Disabled
An interesting listing on one of the test reports is for a Mini-Jack unshielded audio port which is the technical name for a 3.5mm headphone jack. Is LG releasing a watch with a physical headphone jack?
There are no details of the operating system and we could not find further listings for LTE versions for other networks so this may be a USA/ Verizon exclusive. But with LG tipped to be building one of the rumored Nexus phones for 2015 it’s not outside the realm of possibility that this is an Android Wear device.
However, the headphone jack would seem redundant on an Android Wear device which have supported Bluetooth audio for some time. We also note that LG’s Urbane LTE doesn’t run Android Wear, and that suggests this watch – a CDMA entrant – might not either.
