Acer’s press conference today has also delivered a brand new Chromebook, the convertible form-factor R11.

The Chromebook offers four modes of use – laptop, pad, display and tent modes – using their innovative 360° hinge. Even with the new form factor, the tablet is light and thin, weighing less than 1.25 kg and is only 19.2 mm thin. The body of th R11 is made of a textured metallic finish using what Acer call their ‘ nano-imprint technology’, for a unique finish.

The R11 has another feature which is becoming more prevalant on Chromebooks – a 10-point touch screen built into the 11.6″ 1366×768 resolution LED backlit LCD display

The Chromebook is powered by an Intel Celeron processor with ultra-fast 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac built-in and the Celeron processor enables the fast boot times we’ve come to expect from a Chromebook. A USB 3.0 port will enable fast data transfers on the R11 as well.

Availability has been announced in the US where it will be available for US$299 in October and in Europe, the Midd;e East and Africa in November from €299. Australian availability hasnt been announced at this stage but we will be following up with Acer Australia.
