Huawei Nexus
The impending release of a Huawei Nexus is coming up more often now, with the device apparently hitting a second benchmarking site in just two days.

The phone has apparently hit benchmarking site GFXBench showing off more of the specs that have been rumoured for some time. There is of course the spectre that this can be faked quite easily, but a phone with the name ‘Huawei Angler’ has hit GFXBench and if it’s real, it has some nice looking specs for a 2015 Nexus phone.

The phone that’s been benchmarked apparently has a 5.7 inch display with QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution marking this as a higher end option in Nexus if we see two released this year, the LG Nexus 5 2015 very much rumoured to be 1080P. Under the hood we see a Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 1.9GHz with the matching Adreno 430 GPU, there’s 3GB of RAM and what appears to be 32GB of storage.

The phone listed comes in a single-SIM variety with WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth (what phone these days doesn’t?) and has NFC as befits a phone that will be showing off Android Pay. There’s a laundry list of other sensors including accelerometer, barometer, compass, gyroscope, lightsensor, pedometer and proximity sensor on board as well.

Camera wise an 11MP sensor is listed on the rear, and a 7MP on the front – though we’ve been hearing other camera specs for the Huawei Nexus. This camera will apparently be behind a largish bump according to recent leaked pics of the device in the wild, though that could just be a prototype.

We’re on the eve of an announcement with the rumoured September 29th launch date, but as yet we haven’t heard anything official about that date. It could be going ahead, it could be pushed back, we hope to see a new Nexus phone (or phones) in the very near future.

11MP camera would be a disappointment. Also no HDR?
Would Google allow such a step backwards for a Nexus phone?

I read in a tear down that the Android Camera App 3 would have Auto-HDR. I don’t know if that would effect the report. I am not sure which model I will get but would like a better camera then 11mp!

Also, on the announcement, will be interesting if they have an event or just invite the media like they have with other events! Would love a streamed announcement but that hasn’t seemed their way of late.

Hmm good camera with HDR is a must for me to upgrade. Looks like the Moto X Style is still a contender if those specs are right.

A good camera is why the LG G4 is a contender for me especially with the impossibility of getting hold of a Moto X in Australia.

I also want a large screen device. Currently using an 8.4 tab s.only bad things arE very average battery life and the 8M camera

    I have the 10.5 Tab S too

Yes doesn’t sound the greatest. Someone suggested buying a stop gap phone this year at the snap dragon 820 sounds a roaring chip for next year. Maybe the lg nexus 5x could fill that gap of its camera is add good as the lg g4

I got a G4. The Nexus would need to be convincingly better to tempt me away now.

Congrats, I went big and bought a 9.7 S2 Lte today. Doesn’t fix me camera issue but will be a good replacement for the tab s 8.4. Well decide what phone later ☺

Nobody buys a tablet for the camera anyway. Hope you find a good phone choice when you go to upgrade.
