It is hard to escape it but most people take selfies, actually a lot of selfies, using their mobile phone. We have seen most manufacturers take stock of this and improve their front facing cameras to accommodate this fad. Oppo have taken the step of adding a second front-facing camera to their upcoming phone for this reason.
OPPO are set to announce the F3 and the F3 Plus in just a few days time on March 23. OPPO have been bringing a lot of their devices to Australia of late so we expect, and hope, this to land on our shores in the near future.
Ahead of the launch we have seen the OPPO F3 Plus pass through Geekbench which notes the specs. These fit with leaks that we have seen in previous weeks — see the two below.
Of note in the specs are:
- Front facing 16MP AND 8MP cameras (one 120deg widescreen)
- Rear facing 16MP camera
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 653
- 64GB onboard storage
- 4GB RAM
- 6in 1080P display
- 4000mAh battery
- microSD expansion slot up to 256GB
- ColorOS and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
- LTE B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28
- 163.6mm x 80.8mm x 7.35mm
- VOOC support
Equally of note is the lack of NFC. OPPO seem to think that NFC is not required in phones just yet and let’s be honest they are probably right. Their phones are usually aimed at low to mid range buyers and among this demographic NFC usage would be extremely low.
The phone itself looks like so many other OPPO phones which is not a bad thing as they make some very good quality hardware that are not unattractive. Of course there have been several leaks of the phone itself in the past few weeks — peruse through the leaked images below:
Oppo has announced that the F3 series will launch in five different markets — India,Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam — simultaneously with more to follow in coming weeks. We have reached out to OPPO Australia for information regarding a local release. Given their penchant for competitive pricing we hope we see this phone land here, and soon.

You reckon teenagers, single mothers, and low paid workers wouldn’t want to leave home with nothing else but their mobile phone, with credit cards, bus passes and loyalty cards all stored on there, ready to use with tap n go tech? Not to mention all manner of bluetooth speakers, at literally every budget, supporting NFC. I would have thought there is a growing market for it amongst that segment.
