The ink is dry on all the Galaxy S8 and S8+ reviews and already we are starting to see rumours for the Galaxy Note 8. 9to5Google have gotten their hands on a couple of notes sent out to investors by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that give some insight into the Note 8.

According to Kuo, the Note 8 dual camera setup will have optical zoom of up to 3X with one wide-angle lens being 12MP and a second lens a 13MP telephoto lens. Both will offer OIS, with Kuo stating that the cameras will be the most important upgrade in the Galaxy Note 8. We have seen prototypes of a dual camera Galaxy S8 leak in recent days but Samsung did not see any value in including it at this stage thus it missed the final cut.

Other Note 8 specs mentioned include a rear-facing fingerprint sensor, a 6.4-inch QHD+ OLED display, and either an Exynos 8895 process or Snapdragon MSM8998 — all similar to the Galaxy S8/S8+ offerings. Hopefully the rear facing fingerprint means the 18:9(ish) display ratio from the Galaxy S8 and minimal bezels are maintained but this time the fingerprint sensor is in a location that is actually easy to use. Many reviewers, including Chris, have criticised its location on the S8 as being hard to reach and far too close to the camera.

Kuo also had some updates on the Galaxy S8/S8+ which are hardly surprising or earth shattering:

According to our survey, market feedback to Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ (abbreviated as ‘S8’) has been better than expected since their unveiling. We attribute this to a better- than-expected selling point in the full-screen design. For this reason, we revise up our 2017F S8 shipments from 40-45mn units to 50-55mn units.

Post-launch market response a big thumbs up for full-screen design, offsetting our concerns. Although the full-screen design has not created any new applications, its form factor will be effective in attracting high-end users. This is why market feedback has exceeded our expectations.

If you want to read Chris’ entertaining thoughts on the Galaxy S8 go and check it out and in turn let us know your thoughts on the Galaxy S8. Does the Galaxy S8 hit your sweet spot or do you think a similar phone with the S-Pen (Note 8) would be even better? In the meantime get ready for a lot more Note 8 rumours over the coming months.

Hoping that the phone’s a little wider than the S8 variants.
